Spring Clean Your Social Media Content with Content Strategist, Jess Bruno

March 20th is officially the start of Spring! We’re almost there — the sun and the warmth is coming pals! With the new season and new quarter on it’s way, now might be the perfect time to think about giving your social media content strategy a freshen up. Wild Coach and Social Strategy Consultant, Jess Bruno, shared some of her top tips on how you can do this yourself. Read on to find out more.

Smooth your digital footprint

When it comes to your overall content strategy, consistency and alignment is key. You want to make sure that in all the places you show up, you do so in a way that fits your business and your brand. How? Start by checking all the places online where your business is seen.

Open up tabs on your browser to your website, any landing or standalone sales pages, course hub pages, online storefronts, any profile you have on directories or membership sites, and every social media account you have (even if you don’t think you use it ‘well’). Now check the following 4 things are cohesive across all platforms.

  • Profile pics — Try and use the same one across all platforms. If using a logo you could mix up the colours but the less differentiation the better.

  • Branding — Do your visuals look consistent? Check your fonts, colours, graphics and photos.

  • Content — Is what you’re talking about aligned in each space?

  • Engagement — Are you connecting regularly on your chosen platforms and with the right audience for your business?

Now, these don’t have to be carbon copies of each other but they should all be on-brand. Think about it — it would be confusing for your customers to click on a profile and see a totally different photo or description to what you present elsewhere. (however, if you want to save time then copy and paste is your friend! Consistency over perfection always!!).

Think about SEO everywhere

Your profile name — Get what you DO in there because names are searchable

  • Your username — Brand name or personal name? It’s your choice, but make it consistent with your other platforms if you can.

  • Pronouns — If you’re posting as a brand (not a personal brand or as the face behind the business) then you don’t have to, but to foster an inclusive community we think it’s important to do so.

  • Bio — Different platforms have different character limits so it’s good to have a really snappy bio as it works everywhere. Add some keywords to help your brand awareness!

Get some Big Goal Energy!

This is an easy thing to forget but is a really important part of strategy (and not just for your social media content). We all understand how showing up on social media is a very helpful tool to market our businesses, connect with our audience and grow our brands, but when was the last time you stopped to think about it properly?

What is the point of your brand socials?

Why are you on Instagram/Facebook/Pinterest/LinkedIn/TikTok specifically?

What are you trying to achieve on that platform?

You might have an overall idea but you need to set clear and realistic goals. “Do Instagram” isn’t reeeeeeeally going to cut it…

  • Specific — Think about the who, what, when, where and why of your goal

  • Measurable — How are you defining success, and how are you going to measure it?

  • Achievable — What do you need to do to be able to succeed, what are the steps?

  • Relevant — Make sure your goal is realistic and is based on what you want, not on someone else’s ideals.

  • Time — Milestones are helpful for accountability and momentum. Set a timeframe or date that you’d like to work to.

Now Big Goal Energy (BGE), that’s what happens when you know your goals and you take action to achieve them. You got BGE when you set SMART goals to help you stay focused on your content plans and enables you to take the right steps towards getting the results you actually want.

As you know, social media marketing is a big area to master – and there’s always something more to learn! If you are curious, you can delve much deeper into strategy for your social media platform of choice or into planning the creative content across your whole brand, but the three steps here are a great way to make a start on improving your current socials.
