Disabled business owners unite

I had a pretty serious wake up call last week and it’s directly related to why Wild exists.

I don’t talk about this much but ya girl is epileptic and last week I had three seizures in the space of 12 hours. I’m fine! But this is an important topic so here we are.

One happened whilst I was hosting the Retreat (my seizures are different to how you’re imagining them, they’re essentially invisible so it’s ‘easy’ for me to carry on facilitating whilst it’s happening.) I then had to spend the entire next day in bed. It meant I missed out on an event that I was really looking forward to attending. That part was shit but it also confirmed why it’s important that Wild will always be an online membership with a sprinkling of in-person events.

Not only does that work for my needs but it also means other disabled, neurodivergent and those with chronic illnesses can still find community, accountability and support. From wherever they need to be, including bed. And by the way 25% of business owners are disabled! But often earn 30% less than their non-disabled peers.

I started Wild because of many reasons but one of them was because I was fed up with attending traditional networking events that felt inaccessible and outdated. It’s why one of our core values is simply to ensure every in-person event is accessible completely step free.
