Some lovely things

In a time when it can feel like there's little hope, I think it's important to spotlight the good stuff so we know what we're fighting for.

I wrote on my vision board at the beginning of the year ‘Art is important’ ‘People need art’ and this project that I’ve recently discovered has proven exactly that.

Portraits of Recovery is a visual arts charity working with contemporary artists/people in recovery from substance use to create transformational art.

They’ve also just been nominated for a Manchester Culture Award.

These cuties are now roaming Exmoor for the first time in over a decade. Pine Martens are critical to woodlands ecosystems and now they’re having a bloody lovely time hanging out on the moors.

Dr Hamston said the release of the pine martens showed "all is not lost".

"It's a positive sign that nature can be restored - our woodlands and their wildlife will benefit from their presence," she said. Souce: bbc.co.uk

“There is power in the garden. There is power in the land.”

I’ve just learnt about ‘land defenders’ - people all over the world who are reclaiming land and using it to grow healthy food. Something that seems basic but when you think about it, is rarely supported.

You can read more about all of the growers, farmers and gardeners on the positive news website here (it’s lush!).

British artist Rayvenn Shaleigha D’Clark unveils statue to celebrate and shine a spotlight on postpartum bodies.

‘Men make 97% of the sculptures in our cities, and they largely represent other men who are presented on literal pedestals. In Mother Vérité, we are celebrating a body that society hides: the true postpartum body; not airbrushed or not to be apologised for.’
